Cookie Policy

Last updated: 6 November 2023

This Cookie Policy explains how Kitman Labs Limited (“Kitman Labs”) and our affiliates use cookies and similar technologies to recognise you when you visit our Websites and when you use our Services, including our associated Mobile Apps.  It explains what these technologies are and why we use them, as well as your rights to control our use of them.

What are cookies?

A cookie is a small file containing a string of characters that is sent to your computer when you visit a website.  When you visit the site again, the cookie allows that site to recognize your browser.  Cookies may store user preferences and other information.

Cookies provide a convenience feature to save you time, or tell the Web server that you have returned to a specific page.  For example, if you personalise pages on our Websites or Services, a cookie helps us to recall your specific information on subsequent visits.  When you return to the same Website, the information you previously provided can be retrieved, so you can easily use the custom features.

Cookies set by the website owner (in this case, Kitman Labs) are called “first party cookies”.  Cookies set by parties other than the website owner are called “third party cookies”.  Third party cookies enable third party features or functionality to be provided on or through the website (e.g. like advertising, interactive content and analytics).  The parties that set these third party cookies can recognise your computer both when it visits the website in question and also when it visits certain other websites.

Why do we use cookies?

We use first party and third party cookies for several reasons.  Some cookies are required for technical reasons in order for our Websites or Services to operate, and we refer to these as “essential” or “strictly necessary” cookies.  Other cookies also enable us to track and target the interests of our users to enhance the experience on our Websites and Services.  For example, we keep track of the Websites and pages you visit within Kitman Labs, in order to determine what portion of the Kitman Labs Website or Service is the most popular or most used.  This data is used to deliver customised content and promotions within the Kitman Labs Website to customers whose behaviour indicates that they are interested in a particular subject area and to make decisions about how our Services may be developed.  Third parties serve cookies through our Websites for advertising, analytics and other purposes.  This is described in more detail below.

At all times it is our policy to ensure that any data that we hold is accurate, complete and up-to-date as is necessary for the purposes for which it is processed.

At no time do any tracking technologies access health data i.e. the PHI of any Controlled Entity.

What types of cookies do we use and how do we use them?

How can I control cookies?

You have the right to decide whether to accept or reject cookies. The cookies banner which appears when you first open the kitmanlabs.com website gives information in relation to the cookies we use and allows you to choose your preferences.  As ‘necessary’ cookies are key to the functioning of the website it is not possible to continue using the website without them.

Once you have made your decision, you may alter those preferences or further avail of the specific information relating to the cookies by clicking on the ‘cookie button’ which will rest in the bottom left hand corner of the website.

What about other tracking technologies, like web beacons?

Cookies are not the only way to recognise or track visitors to a website.  There are times where we may not have the latest cookies/web beacons listed, where we are testing technology.

We employ a software technology called pixel tags (a.k.a. Web Beacons), that help us better manage the Website and Service by informing us what content and functionality is valuable and effective.

This allows us to gauge the effectiveness of certain communications and the effectiveness of our marketing campaigns.  We tie the information gathered by clear gifs in emails to our customers’ Personal Information.

How often will we update this Cookie Policy?

We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time in order to reflect, for example, changes to the cookies we use or for other operational, legal or regulatory reasons.  Please therefore re-visit this Cookie Policy regularly to stay informed about our use of cookies and related technologies.

The date at the top of this Cookie Policy indicates when it was last updated.

Where can I get further information?
